Yield Guild raises P12.5 million for victims of Typhoon Odette

Having kicked off on December 17th, the Philippines-based company Yield Guild has continued to fundraise and provide direct support to Philippine organizations and victims that are rebuilding their lives in the aftermath of Typhoon Odette.

While beginning as open donations from Ethereum wallets, Axie Infinity-based SLP and AXS tokens and USD Coin, the relief initiative has brought in over Php 15 million so far.

According to the local news outlet, Manila Bulletin, Yield Guild has taken its support even further, directly donating the funds raised to the Philippine army and navy, along with essential goods for those affected by the Typhoon.

What’s more, YGG has also provided further donations to NGOs like the World Food Programme Philippines and World Vision Development Foundation Fund, along with direct Php cash payouts to thousands of affected victims.

The Armed Forces of the Philippines’ Media and Civil Affairs Group, Civil Relations Service, Major Cenon Pancito, Yield Guild’s contributions have made a truly positive impact.

“The Typhoon has damaged electricity and telecommunication lines in many areas in Visayas and Mindanao, making it harder for people to connect and send help to those affected… With the combined efforts of communities such as YGG and our own resources, we can effectively provide the necessary support Odette victims need at this time.

Yield Guild’s Country Manager Luis Buenaventura had this to say of the company’s initiatives:

“We, at YGG, are very grateful for members of the community who started this initiative, everyone who has contributed to our donation drive, and the organizations we reached out to and are working with… We hope that all our efforts will provide relief for Odette victims and help them recover and rebuild faster.”
