Sony Network Communications and Singaporean web3 tech company Startale Labs have announced plans to develop a new blockchain.
The companies will start a new joint venture to create a new blockchain for high-end use cases that will push global adoption of web3 technology.
With integration into Sony’s current services including games, music, pictures, and more, the new company will aim to add value that spans over multiple business areas.
President and representative director of Sony Network Communications Jun Watanabe commented, “By combining Sony Network Communications’ experience in communication, IoT, AI, and solution services with Startale Labs’ insights and technical prowess in Web3, we aspire to create a global infrastructure that underpins the Web3 era, driving innovation across existing industries.”
In a previous announcement in June 2023, Startale Labs and Sony Network Communications revealed their joint plans to expand web3 infrastructure by forming a capital alliance. In addition to Startale Labs raising $3.5 million from Sony Network in a seed funding round, the two companies appointed Jun Watanabe as a director of Startale Labs.
“We are looking forward to collaborating more deeply. This joint venture is founded on the synergy of our respective assets and knowledge, aimed at co-developing leading blockchain and its ecosystem. We are determined to discern web3 trends and drive them globally,” added CEO of Startale Labs, Sota Watanabe.
