Cross-platform virtual world Somnium Space has joined the Virtual Reality Blockchain Alliance (VRBA).
Somnium Space joins VRBA founders High Fidelity and JanusVR in the effort to create a universal digital identity platform. Built on the blockchain, VRBA aims to place itself beyond the control of any corporate entity, bridging virtual worlds and the real one.
“We’re excited to join the VRBA to make travel between virtual worlds easy and enjoyable,” said Somnium Space founder Artur Sychov. “When VR users can access their identities and assets wherever they go in the metaverse, digital content will be more valuable and accelerate the growth of the VR industry as a whole.”
Somnium Space is a persistent VR world that encourages players to buy land, build objects, and easily monetise property. As a part of the partnership, Somnium Space will host a node of the High Fidelity blockchain. Assets created in any of the environments within VRBA will be transferable between systems.
