Square Enix takes help from Animoca Japan to expand Symbiogenesis overseas

Japanese game publisher Square Enix and Animoca Brands Japan have announced a partnership to boost the global marketing of Symbiogenesis, Square Enix’s narrative-driven web3 game and NFT collection.

By signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU), Animoca Brands Japan and Square Enix will work to enhance Symbiogenesis‘ market strategy and global expansion, partly by leveraging Animoca’s 400 strong company portfolio to promote cross-game and brand collaborations.

Additionally, Animoca Brands Japan will support Symbiogenesis by offering its experience with NFT sales, as well as using its forthcoming NFT Launchpad to reach a wider audience.

Symbiogenesis is a narrative-based game where each chapter is unlocked gradually. Described as “a devastated high fantasy world populated by 10,000 NFT game characters” it’s closely connected to a collection of 10,000 NFTs, each of which adds utility to the game. The NFTs serve as PFPs and are a requirement to access the fantasy world of Symbiogenesis.

Symbiogenesis producer at Square Enix, Naoyuki Tamate commented, “We are very excited about this initiative and look forward to working with Animoca Brands Japan to bring the web3 experience to a wider audience in an even more strategic way.”

“Animoca Brands Japan is pleased to be working with Square Enix, an entertainment company that provides world-class content and IP that Japan can be proud of. We are proud to support the global development of Symbiogenesis as we continue our work to make Animoca Brands Japan the web3 gateway between Japan and the rest of the world,” added Animoca Brands Japan COO Kensuke Amo.
