Fantasy card game Fungiball onboards world no.4 tennis star Zverev

Blockchain fantasy tennis game Fungiball has announced a collaboration with current world number 4 tennis player, Alexander Zverev. As such, he will be the highest ranked licensed player to-date to be integrated in the game.

Each card in Fungiball represents one of four specific tennis skills, including Power, Serve, Return, and Mental. These skills are changing weekly based on a players’ real-life performances, with scores spanning from 0 to 100. In addition, each player’s skill is available in different rarity – Unique, Gold, and Silver. 

In an exclusive sale on Fungiball’s NFT marketplace, starting 24th May, users will be able to purchase and collect the first eight Zverev cards, four gold and four silver, representing the player’s skills. Alongside Zverev, Fungiball also includes 13 of the current top 50 tennis players in the world.

27-year old German professional tennis player Zverev ventured into the sport at the age of five. Alongside his professional career, he has also set up a foundation helping children with type 1 diabetes, a diagnosis he suffers from himself.

“The arrival of Alexander is a significant milestone for our platform. He embodies the values of perseverance and excellence that we aim to promote through our NFT cards,” commented Fungiball CEO Jean Matias. 

Serving as an NFT platform as well as game, France-headquartered Fungiball launched in December 2023, and is deployed on Polygon.
