UK-based mobile game developer Pixion Games is bringing its base-building action RPG Fableborne to Ronin. Previously deployed on Avalanche, it will be the latest game to migrate to Sky Mavis’ growing gaming-centric Ronin network.
In development since 2021, Fableborne underwent a cosmetic rebrand in May 2024. In terms of gameplay, it’s an action RPG with strategic build-and-raid elements containing both multiplayer PvP battles and PvE boss battles. It also claims to have a strong esports vibe.
While Ronin already has a number of MMORPGs and pixel style games mainly attracting a southeast Asian and LATAM audience, Fableborne comes from a European studio with a notably different playerbase. Onboarding Pixion as a thirdparty developer aligns with Sky Mavis’ expansion strategy of creating a more diverse and open gaming ecosystem.
Sky Mavis co-founder and CEO Trung Nguyen commented, “Fableborne has already gained impressive traction outside of Ronin, and we’re excited to bring it onto our platform. Its unique mix of hack-and-slash RPG action, like Diablo, with base-building defense similar to Clash of Clans is something we haven’t seen before, and we believe it will engage both new and current players in our ecosystem.”
With browser-based social RPG Pixels being the dominant game on Ronin in terms of daily active players, the network is also gaining momentum thanks to pre-launch campaigns and token airdrops among its other games. As for mobile-first titles, Wild Forest from Zillion Whales stands out with its over 150,000 daily active wallets throughout October 2024.
Now collaborating with Sky Mavis, Pixion hopes Ronin’s increased focus on mobile games will bring valuable innovation to the gaming space.
“We believe that web3 has the potential to fix fundamental issues in the free-to-play model and bring meaningful innovation back to mobile gaming. After years of building in web3, we see Ronin as the perfect partner to realize this vision,” said Pixion Games founder and CEO Kam Punia.
“What drew us to Ronin was not only their mobile-first approach but their incredible community – one that’s resilient, vocal, and deeply engaged. The Ronin team truly understands the midcore mobile experiences we’re creating with Fableborne, and we’re thrilled to work alongside a partner that shares our passion and operational expertise.”
