Cloud9 partners with Theta to build esports AI chatbot Nimbus

Merging esports and AI in an innovative way, US esports organization Cloud9 has partnered with web3 infrastructure provider Theta Network

Through this partnership, Cloud9 and Theta will develop Nimbus, a Cloud9-branded AI chatbot that offers real-time tournament updates, team stats, and personalised insights across Discord and Cloud9’s platforms.

Nimbus will also be integrated with Club9’s loyalty program, rewarding users with XP for their interactions with the chatbot. By contributing with meaningful engagement, users can progress toward exclusive rewards and advance to deeper layers in the Club9 ecosystem.

Nimbus is expected to launch sometime in 2025.

Cloud9 co-founder and CEO Jack Etienne commented, “Cloud9 has always been at the forefront of innovation in the esports industry. This partnership with Theta Network allows us to deliver something truly unique for our fans, an AI-powered experience that not only informs but engages, creating more meaningful ways for fans to interact with Cloud9.”

Theta Labs co-founder and CEO Mitch Liu commented, “Esports fans are some of the most engaged and analytical audiences in the world – they dive deep into stats, study strategies, and live for those real-time match moments. With Cloud9’s new AI conversational agent running on our edge computing network and integrated into Club9 fan loyalty program, we’re creating technology that truly respects that depth of engagement.”

The move follows other esports teams integrating some of their operations with blockchain, including Team Liquid with Sui, and Ninjas in Pyjamas partnering with Chiliz’s Socios platform.
