Pixelmon adopts Avalanche, with mobile game Warden’s Ascent first to launch

Monster-collecting IP Pixelmon is partnering with Ava Labs to expand its mobile-first web3 games to Avalanche.

Starting with the launch of its flagship mobile title Warden’s Ascent, Pixelmon will initially integrate on Avalanche C-Chain, with the prospect of upgrading to its own Avalanche L1 blockchain if needed.

Pixelmon CEO Giulio Xiloyannis commented, “By launching on Avalanche’s C-Chain, we’re able to bring blockchain features to players quickly and with minimal friction.”

“As our needs evolve, we’ll seamlessly upgrade to our own Avalanche-based Layer 1 – giving us the power to fully customize performance, costs, and gameplay without compromising the player experience.”

As for Warden’s Ascent, it’s a turn-based RPG adventure based in the fantasy world of Nova Thera, built for iOS and Android. With the game, players hatch, and evolve unique Monsters while battling through challenging campaigns and trials. It also features deep strategic PVP elements.

Beyond Warden’s Ascent, Pixelmon is building additional ecosystem projects, including Pixelmon TCG, idle RPG Nova Thera Chronicles, an anime series, and community-driven storytelling.

For Avalanche, the deal marks a significant step forward for its expanding gaming ecosystem. Recently hitting six million wallets and over three million monthly active users due to the MapleStory Universe mint, the network demonstrates its capability of meeting the increasing demands of mass-scaling.

With Pixelmon’s strong communities across Asia, the partnership also strengthens Avalanche’s reach in the APAC region, which currently represents over 50% of global gaming revenue, mainly dominated by mobile gaming.

Ava Labs ecosystem growth lead Parker Heath commented, “By leveraging Avalanche’s powerful infrastructure, Pixelmon is able to create fast, fluid gameplay at scale, while giving players real ownership and a stake in the world they help shape. This collaboration highlights Avalanche’s growing momentum in gaming, especially across Asia-Pacific, and reinforces our commitment to supporting the next generation of interactive franchises.”
