Fully onchain turn-based battler Blob Arena is preparing for its official launch.
It takes place on Saturday 7th June at the NFL’s Hall of Fame Village in Ohio during the Armored MMA event, which is a combination of cage fighting with steel weapons and armor.
Developed by Grug’s Lair, the game will launch with an in situ $1,000 cash tournament for attendees at the Blob Arena booth, and a wider seasonal online prize pool worth over $50,000 in various assets.
Running on the Starknet blockchain and using the Cartridge blockchain game engine, users can sign in either with Discord or creating a hardware passkey on their phone or security device, playing either the classic version or the AMMA mode.
They then create a blob fighter, upgrading their stats and unlocking new moves as they win more fights. You can also spend in-game coins to roll more blob fighters.
“The launch at Hall of Fame Village is more than just an event. It’s a cultural moment,” said Grug’s Lair creative director Giacomo De Caro.
“We’re proving that blockchain games don’t have to live behind login screens or gated Discords. They can thrive in stadiums, with real fans, real players, and real stakes. This is how Web3 gaming reaches the mainstream – not by shouting into the void online, but by showing up in the real world and delivering unforgettable experiences.”
Following its launch, the Blob Arena roadshow will move to the world’s premier medieval combat tournament, the Buhurt International World Championship which runs from 16-21st July in Hungary.
