Sky Mavis has announced Axie Vibeathon, a two-round online competition that invites entrants to build playable Axie games using AI coding tools. The community prize pool is 20,000 bAXS, worth roughly $18,000 at current market prices.
Registration runs from 1st to 7th September. Sky Mavis says the contest is open to anyone on the premise that AI vibe-coding tools can turn any written concept into a working game.
The main requirement of the vibeathon is every entry should be a playable game centered on what it labels Axie Core.
The announcement does not explicitly define Axie Core but Sky Mavis is supplying a Builder Resource Kit that includes Axie art assets, engine guides, API setup instructions, and an Origins Battle Kit based on Axie Origins. The kit also contains a beta tool, the Three.js Axie Mixer, for 3D work.
All submissions must be browser-playable, hosted on the entrant’s own server, and provided as a link. Sky Mavis does not specify an engine, and says use of Axie art, NFTs, on-chain data or its API is optional at the prototype stage.
The contest is structured in two phases. In Round 1 runs from 8th to 21st September. Entrants must submit a playable prototype, a written vision for the finished game, and their Axie Core justification.
Up to eight finalists, to be announced on 29th September, then advance to Round 2, from 4th to 31st October, in which they are required to build the complete game loop and approved ecosystem integrations. This is the stage at which Axie asset and blockchain hooks must be implemented and cleared by Sky Mavis. Final demonstrations and winners are scheduled for 5th November.
Each submission must also include a title, a one-sentence pitch, short and long descriptions, a thumbnail, a playable link, control instructions, a code repository link that may remain private, a fallback demo video, documentation of which AI tools were used, and a statement on its Axie Core fit.
Entrants are limited to one submission, which is tied to their Sky Mavis account, but may resubmit updated versions before each deadline.
The prize pool is denominated in bAXS, the locked form of the AXS token. The pool will be divided among winners, finalists and standout prototypes rather than awarded as a single prize, and a separate 500 bAXS bonus is earmarked for entries judged “promising prototypes.”
