Guild of Guardians mixes up the meta with new character mint
Changing up the metagame is a key element for F2P games to retain and monetize their top players, and three months into its live operations cycle, that’s what Immutable’s mobile squad RPG Guild of Guardians is hoping to do with its new guardians.
The main addition is Jadey, a legendary centaur guardian with strong healing features both for individual allies as well as the whole squad. She also has a solid sleep attack spell, and if attacked will slow down the enemy.
Available via a gacha-style system in which players buy summoning prayers which are burned with fixed drop odds, Jadey can also be acquired in-game using standard IAP payments to buy summoning stones, which use a similar gacha-based system. This is more expensive, however, due to Apple and Google’s 30% platform fees.
Alternatively, players can acquire the guardians directly from NFT marketplaces such as Token Trove, with Jadey having a current floor price of $50 and Callisto – who is a secondary drop from failed Jadey summons – priced at $6.
Players unsure of the benefit of Jadey can also get a taste of her powers thanks to the in-game trial mode. Guild of Guardians has also just launched its Full House special event which more generally provides players with temporary guardians to try out in an endless mode that will be rewarded with in-game assets and NFTs.
