Game7 launches Factions to bring gaming communities together
As part of its recently launched Credits Campaign, web3 gaming network Game7 has introduced Factions. A feature aimed at strengthening the community aspect, factions allow groups of players to compete for credit rewards on a designated leaderboard.
At the end of the campaign, each faction can distribute the rewards amongst its members to ensure every player is rewarded for their participation.
“The campaign is designed to bring core gaming communities together to compete and have fun within the Game7 Portal,“ Game7 co-founder Jon Allen told BlockchainGamer.
As for the latest feature, it offers a “new level of community engagement, adding a layer of social competition”, he adds.
There’s also an element of pride and bragging rights involved, with each faction gaining recognition through a custom referral link – each faction requires at least 100 referrals, so collaboration within the community is essential – code, and logo featured on the leaderboard.
With no lack of questing, airdrop and rewards campaigns in the web3 game community however, one rising concern is the level of bots these games encourage. Does Game7 have a plan to reduce it?
“Most of our quests require players to actively engage with the game. We believe that this level of required effort is the best defense against bots,” explained Allen.
Similarly to other developers in the space witnessing high bot activity, Allen acknowledges that social campaigns are a particular magnet attracting bots, “especially when competition is involved.”
As a result, accounts will regularly be checked for Sybil activity and suspicious behaviour, and any issues will quickly be addressed.
“We view this new feature as a precursor and experiment for a more robust product that we’ll be releasing in the coming months, a product that will be central to our DAO structure.”
