News is starting to drip out following the first day of the YGG Play Summit in Manila.
Notably, web3 games guild Yield Guild Games, which is hosting the event, announced that its new Onchain Guilds platform will launch on Ethereum scaling L2 Base.
Onchain Guilds aims to enable communities ranging from games to NFT art collectives, yield chasers and memecoin mooners to build fully onchain, with access to identity and community management tools in the form of treasury wallets, project dashboards, and NFT minting features.
Members of such groups will also get access to “reward-based opportunities across YGG’s expansive partner network”, although what these are is yet to be announced.
YGG co-founder Gabby Dizon commented, “Launching Onchain Guilds on Base allows YGG to tap into a strong web3 gaming community and more. All sorts of people are on Base; there’s people in games, music, art, social, DeFi, logistics, health, education, environment and sustainability, and more.
“This is a big existing network of groups with special expertise that will be able to form Onchain Guilds to organize themselves onchain, scale their activities, and access earning opportunities with YGG’s partner network and all across web3.”
Creator of Base Jesse Pollak added, “We’re excited about the future of gaming onchain, where players can actually own their edits and accomplishments and earn more. Onchain Guilds will help groups establish themselves onchain, benefit from the reputation they have built collectively, and build more together.”
