Sophon mainnet goes live alongside SOPH token launch
Blockchain gaming-focused platform Sophon has launched its mainnet.
Backed by Binance and built on ZKsync while leveraging data layer Avail, Sophon is spearheading scalable, consumer-focused apps in gaming and entertainment.
In conjunction with the launch, Sophon is also releasing its SOPH token. Over 120,000 node licenses have been bought, by more than 5,800 participants, which are now open for claiming. Node holders will begin earning SOPH rewards from 1st January, with full token transferability and trading expected in Q1 2025.
Among its launch partners are gaming studio Mirai Labs, Aethir, Anomaly, OPEN Ticketing, and betting company Rivalry.
Sophon is also a strategic partner of Beam’s recently unveiled $150 million Abu Dhabi-based gaming fund. The company has also seeded the $40 million tactical compute initiative, which focuses on projects developed at the intersection of blockchain and AI.
As for its technology, Sophon’s mainnet is the first Validium on ZKsync to leverage an external data availability layer powered by Avail. Leveraging Validium as part of the ZK Stack enables higher throughput while keeping transaction fees low, making it ideal for consumer-focused crypto projects.
ZKsync co-inventor Alex Gluchowski commented, “As a ZKsync Validium leveraging Avail, Sophon is poised to transform the industry by offering enhanced scalability, security, and cost-efficiency. With a strong focus on user experience and a growing ecosystem of innovative partners, Sophon is well-positioned to unlock the full potential of blockchain for consumers around the world.”
“Sophon is building the destination where digital culture, entertainment, and value seamlessly flow together – making crypto a natural part of everyday lifestyle applications. Today is day 0 of that journey,” added Sophon co-founder and CEO Sebastien.
