Nine Chronicles looks to expand the NCG ecosystem with new games in 2025

Six years after its launch on PC, and just over a year on mobile, South Korean developer Planetarium has released its roadmap highlighting key changes coming to Nine Chronicles in 2025.
In a major push toward strengthening its existing community, the developer has reworked its staking-based governance model. This lets community members participate in network operations in return for NCG token rewards, for instance by becoming validators. During Q1 2025, early stakeholders will see the addition of more incentives including higher APRs.
Working toward what it calls a “self-expanding ecosystem”, the developer has also announced the launch of additional games based on the Nine Chronicles IP. Expected to roll out gradually during 2025, its new diverse game portfolio is aimed at bringing in new players but also accelerate the demand for the NCG token.
Instead of only expanding the existing RPG, Planetarium explains that “the real potential lies not in cramming endless features into a single game, but in launching multiple interconnected games under the Nine Chronicles IP.”
In 2024, Nine Chronicles experienced irregular short-lived surges of players due to its collaborations with other developers and in-game campaigns. With additional titles in its ecosystem tied to the NCG token and underlying mainnet tech Libplanet, it hopes to see a more sustainable flow of users and increased token utilities.
NCG will remain the core of the Nine Chronicles ecosystem, including its new titles. Players will also be able to share their items and tokens across all games.

To facilitate this change while keeping the network secure, Nine Chronicles and Libplanet are also moving to a Proof of Stake system.
As for the upcoming game launches;
- The first Nine Chronicles IP-based game is set roll out in Q1 2025, and will feature “short immersive gameplay” and “NCH item trading/rewards”.
- During Q2, the first fully onchain game “using Libplanet, integrated with the NCG ecosystem” will release.
- In Q3, game #2 with “multiplayer focus and NCG powered missions” is set to release.
- Finally, in Q4 2025, the second Libplanet powered fully onchain will launch.
