Beam expands to ‘more than gaming’

From an Axie Infinity guild founded in 2021 into a gaming investment DAO (Merit Circle) to core contributor behind the Beam gaming blockchain; in case Beam hadn’t already proven to be one of the more ambitious builders in web3, its recent strategic expansion will make it obvious.
Under the ‘More than gaming’ motto, Beam has not only polished its visuals, but unveiled a range of new initiatives it’s looking to support, including “DeFi and data-compute to dApps of every kind”.
In fact, it’s rolling out no less than six different divisions to support its new vision, described as “the most ambitious goals we’ve ever set for ourselves”.
So what are those goals? In short, through Beam Ventures, it wants to build “the best gaming accelerator there is”. Aiming to raise $150 million, Beam Ventures is both a fund and accelerator. As for the latter, it’s looking to host and support between 10 to 20 teams per year working out of Abu Dhabi.
Then there’s Beam Foundation, a totally separate team, which looks to keep “pushing the limits” and “always be ready whenever there’s a new opportunity to grasp”.

In terms of marketing, Beam also wants to level up and become more visible across all platforms, something it will achieve through more video content, more written content, and thinking outside the box.
Part of its strategy is also to remain a contributor to the Beam Network, on which it hopes to see increased activity. There’s also a team working to roll out Beam Nodes, as well as ensuring a smooth upgrade to a Proof-of-Stake blockchain. As for games building on the Beam Network, the most highlighted are Forgotten Playland which launched earlier this year, and TrialXtreme, coming in 2025.
