Sleepagotchi’s PIXEL staking is now live

Despite its main sleep-to-earn game not going live until later in Q2 2025, Sleepagotchi is now live as part of Pixels’ PIXEL staking ecosystem.
It’s the first game that doesn’t run on the Ronin blockchain or use the PIXEL token to go live on the staking platform.
And it’s off to a good start with over 5 million PIXEL tokens, worth $215,000 staked in the first 24 hours.
In total, almost 93 million PIXEL (worth $4 million) is now staked from 5,170 wallets in four games – Sleepagotchi, Pixels, Pixel Dungeons and Forgotten Runiverse.
But Sleepagotchi certainly won’t be the last non-Ronin game added to the ecosystem with Pixels’ CEO Luke Barwikowski tweeting it was his view that many people had not realized the significance of the staking platform.
Calling it “an indexed bet on P2E & web3 gaming”, he added that the future success of the PIXEL token is now no longer dependent on the success of Pixels as a game. Instead, he claimed “$PIXEL will live forever”.
His plan is eventually to add dozens of games into the platform, with PIXEL token holders choosing to share their tokens with the games that give them the best rewards.
Indeed, it’s been notable that the APRs given by the first three games have generally become tightly coupled as people unstake tokens from lower APRs to stake in higher APRs.
Of course, over time this sort of activity dynamically moves the entire system towards equilibrium as there is only a fixed number of PIXEL tokens for rewards shared between the games.
As for Sleepagotchi, it will now also be using PIXEL as a reward token for its players as well as using it as a payment method.
