EVE Frontier launches free access until 7th July

Now out of its initial closed alpha season, CCP Games’ fully onchain reworking of its classic EVE Online MMORPG is now into its new era and also available to play for free until Monday 7th July.

In order to play, you first have to create an account at the EVE Frontier website, then download the PC launcher and then download the actual game.

During this process, you will also create a blockchain wallet, although the game is currently only operating on a testnet so there’s no persistent value being created. Indeed, all in-game assets are being regularly wiped as new eras are launched.

More generally, because the experience remains in its early stages, this isn’t the easily experience to get to grips with. It is – after all – an EVE game.

But it’s not that difficult as this young gamer explains in his introduction video.

To get permanent access to EVE Frontier, you need to buy a Founder Access pass, with options running from $30 to $100. Each pass gives some amount of post-launch subscription access, with the most expensive also allowing you to reserve your name, amongst other rewards.
