Animoca partners to launch AMGI’s Studio Chain, also buying KARRAT tokens
Animoca Brands is accelerating support for certain projects, with the news that it’s partnered up with AMGI Studios to drive adoption of its third person PC shooter My Pet Hooligan.
Indeed, as it has previously undertaken with partner company Cross The Ages Studios, Animoca has started buying My Pet Hooligan’s KARRAT token from the open market.
KARRAT’s price is up 52% over the past two weeks, although still down 94% from its all-time-high.
This move is part of a long term project to provide additional liquidity for the KARRAT token as well as its future tokenomics, both in terms of the game and the wider launch of AMGI’s upcoming Arbitrum-based L2 Studio Chain.
Studio Chain, which is currently available in testnet, leverages Caldera’s high-performance infrastructure for core validation. It’s designed to power onchain games, AI agents, and digital experiences providing scalable, low cost infrastructure.
“Web3 gaming remains one of the most important growth-drivers of on-chain activity and mass adoption. Blockchain gaming users are estimated to number as high as 100 million, and we believe that My Pet Hooligan’s blend of humor and action has the potential to attract and onboard traditional gaming audiences to web3. With this partnership we want to demonstrate that blockchain is capable of enhancing great gaming experiences without compromising fun, fairness, or accessibility,” commented Animoca’s executive chairman Yat Siu.
AMGI’s COO Luke Paglia added: “This partnership with Animoca Brands is more than just a win for My Pet Hooligan. It’s a major step forward in building the infrastructure layer for the next generation of web3 games. From our white-label marketplace and game systems to the upcoming launch of Studio Chain powered by the KARRAT token, we’re focused on enabling creators and studios to build immersive experiences powered by true digital ownership. Animoca Brands shares that vision, and we’re excited to build it together.”
