The Sandbox’s first $5,000 AI Game Jam is now live

The Sandbox is launching its first Game Jam for Alpha Creators, built around The Sandbox Studio and its new AI-led creator tools.

Running until 31st July, the jam is open to creators who have been accepted into The Sandbox’s Alpha Creators program, with participants competing for a share of a $5,000 prize pool. The top prize is $2,500, followed by $1,000 for second place, $750 for third, $500 for fourth, and $250 for fifth.

The format creates a focused deadline for experimentation, with entries judged on creativity, execution, and gameplay.

The schedule suggests The Sandbox is treating this as a guided creator program rather than a simple open submission contest. A kickoff workshop takes place on 7th July, followed by a halfway Q&A with The Sandbox team on 15th July. Submissions close on 31st July, with winners announced on 7th August.

A month-long jam with this level of support gives The Sandbox a way to observe where creators get stuck, what types of experiences emerge naturally, and how much guidance the current alpha toolset requires.

For creators, the incentive is straightforward: apply to the Alpha Creators program, gain early access, and submit an Experience for consideration.

For The Sandbox, the prize pool is modest, but the data it gains is valuable. If alpha creators can produce playable, varied, and engaging experiences within a tight window, it strengthens the case that The Sandbox’s next phase is less about owning virtual land or assets, and more about enabling everyone to build inside its universe.
