Robinhood-bound Yield Fields does $8.5 million volume during its NFT mint whitelist

Thanks to its pedigree as the latest game from Wolf Game and Onchain Heroes developer Skarly, farming game Yield Fields has attracted plenty of degen attention.

That’s been reinforced by its planned launch on Robinhood Chain, which will be preceded by the minting of 3,333 Founding Deed NFTs. Players won’t need a Deed to play, but holders will gain access to an additional resource-generating gameplay loop.

One route to the mint whitelist was Deed Season, an event in Onchain Heroes’ Abstract-based dungeon crawler Maze of Gains. It offered 850 whitelist spots: 575 through leaderboards and 275 through raffles.

Running from 17th to 28th September, the event attracted 7,591 players, who completed 226,904 runs and consumed 8,456,542 keys, according to the team. Marketplace trading generated a further $721,924 in volume.

These figures demonstrate considerable activity, although key consumption and marketplace turnover shouldn’t be confused with developer revenue or players’ net spending. Rewards can be converted back into spendable currency, allowing money to circulate through repeated runs.

Indeed, the game’s 24th September update allocated 70% of Arcade key value to the weekly prize pool, 23% to bounty rewards and 7% to development.

The distinction is illustrated by Golden Corn leaderboard winner Issa, who reported playing 41,100 keys, receiving $30,500 in gold cashback and $8,500 in bounties, and also securing seven whitelist spots.

At the published price of $1 per Arcade key, that represents $41,100 in gross gameplay spending. Subtracting the reported rewards leaves an implied net cost of approximately $2,100, or $300 per whitelist spot, before other costs and any eventual mint payment.

It’s still a substantial commitment of time and money to secure access to an NFT sale, but the rewards materially change the economics of the farming.

Separately, 1,000 guaranteed whitelist spots have been allocated to holders of Onchain Heroes’ Ringbearer and Genesis Ring NFTs. The floor price of Ringbearer NFTs rose by around 1 ETH or $2,685, putting Issa’s farming into price context.
