Web3 gaming’s great hope FIFA Rivals now live through Apple and Google app stores

Mythical Games’ long awaited collab with FIFA is finally live as F2P mobile soccer game FIFA Rivals has gone live through the app stores.
Developed by Columbian outfit Bacon Games, FIFA Rivals builds on the solid foundation of Mythical’s first licensed web3 mobile game NFL Rivals, which has done over $13 million in terms of NFT trading volume over the past two years.
FIFA Rivals isn’t just aping its American football precursor, however.
Its gameplay is much more arcadey, allowing players to pull off crazy moves, trick shots and signature plays. As well as the normal PVE matches against AI players, it also features a real-time PVP mode, which is where the best players will be demonstrating their true skills.
Aside from the gameplay, the other core part of the game is the metagame, which sees players winning and buying real-world soccer players to improve their teams, also providing access to high ranking leagues and other competitions.
Some of these real-world players will be web2 assets but some will be NFTs, which will be tradable on the external Mythical Market. Indeed, some players and other items such as kits, win celebration and emblems are already trading.

Significantly, every player who downloads FIFA Rivals will get a blockchain wallet for the Polkadot-based Mythos chain created for them in the background. There’s no mention of blockchain, web3 or NFTs in the game however, making this the perfect experience to onboard millions of mass market players to web3.
“Football is the world’s game, and we’re thrilled to bring its billions of global fans an experience
that captures the thrill of the sport, with the accessibility of mobile gaming,” said Mythical’s CEO John Linden.
“With FIFA Rivals, we’re blending high-energy arcade gameplay with team-building strategy and actual ownership in gaming. This is just the beginning of what we believe will become a landmark title in gaming.”
