ZBD says its Bitcoin rewards are driving +100% retention growth in mobile games

Fresh off securing its Electronic Money Institution and its Markets in Crypto‑Assets Regulation (MiCAR) EU money licenses, game payment platform ZBD is now highlighting how integrating its platform can improve game KPIs.

This is most clearly seen in the retention metrics for mobile games that are mainly monetized by using ads.

ZBD’s ability to reward players with real-money rewards inside the games they’re already playing has significantly boosted player retention.

Examples provided include:

  • Fumb Games’ Merge Monsters with day 7 retention up 181%, and
  • Ruleks Games’ Crypto Idle Tycoon with day 30 retention up 335% and ad revenue per use up 124%.

Unlike other embedded reward systems, ZBD doesn’t require players to use a separate app to claim their rewards.

In addition, its use of the Bitcoin Lightning network means it can handle rewards as low as 1Unlike other embedded reward systems, ZBD doesn’t require players to use a separate app to claim their rewards. In addition, its use of the Bitcoin Lightning network means it can handle rewards as low as 1¢, compared to the more than $5 accumulated value often required by fiat currency-based reward networks.

This also means developers can reward players who interact with in-game ads. Non-blockchain reward platforms are often restricted to rewarding the small minority of players who buy IAPs.

“Rewards are proven beyond doubt to improve the value exchange between games and gamers, leading to powerful upticks in engagement, retention and monetization,” commented ZBD’s chief strategy officer Ben Cousens.

“With embedded rewards, we’re unlocking that potential beyond the constraints of rewarded UA channels. We’re using real-money payments to make a game more worth playing. And removing all the complexity that usually comes with payments to create a solution tailor-made for mobile game studios.”
