iCandy expands web3 catalogue with launch of Snaky Cat on Base

Australian game developer iCandy has launched Snaky Cat, a classic Snake-style multiplayer game deployed on Coinbase’s Ethereum L2 Base.

Developed by Malaysia-headquartered mobile game maker Appxlore, which is an iCandy subsidiary, the game’s web3 features have been designed by Animoca Brands. ICandy is an Animoca subsidiary, and the game is powered by the ecosystem token TOWER, which comprises Animoca portfolio games Crazy Kings, Crazy Defense Heroes, Chaos Kingdom and now Snaky Cat

As for the game itself, players compete to become the longest cat within a set time and climb the leaderboard for a chance to win a share of the TOWER prize pool. Additional power-ups are also available which extend a player’s time. It’s currently available on browser and players need to connect a wallet and get a ticket in order to play. The latter can be purchased with TOWER tokens.

Animoca Brands co-founder and executive chairman Yat Sui commented, “Snaky Cat by our portfolio company iCandy adds functionality and utility to an established token, thus leveraging an existing community. We are proud to have contributed to the launch of Snaky Cat on Base. This is another step in the industry’s march towards mass adoption, in this case greatly facilitated by the Base chain’s economic efficiency.”

“We are very excited to work with Animoca Brands and Coinbase to launch Snaky Cat. We believe firmly in the benefits that web3 can bring to the world of gaming,” added iCandy group chairman Kin Wai Lau.
