Supervillain Labs building debut RPG on Aptos

Aptos and South Korean web3 game developer Supervillain Labs are strengthening their ties through a strategic deal entailing the launch of Supervillain’s next title on the Aptos blockchain.

As a strategic investor, Aptos will facilitate the game launch, and also be the platform on which Supervillain builds and deploys its next title Supervillain: Idle RPG, and other forthcoming releases.

Other Aptos-native NFT projects – including Aptos Monkeys, Aptomingos and Bruh Bears – will also be represented in Supervillain: Idle RPG as game characters.

Users completing the Supervillain Suitability Test will also receive an Ambassador Badge NFT and a Villain Character NFT. The game is slated for a game demo at the end of February.

In addition, the game’s primary assets will be on the Aptos blockchain and compatible with future Supervillain releases. The companies are also joining forces with Neowiz’s web3 gaming arm Intella X.

Aptos Labs  Co-Founder & CEO Mo Shaikh commented, “Together with Supervillain Labs, we are building a future where gaming can be a vehicle for sharing social and economic value, as well as connecting people all over the world. With this partnership — and epic reunion with familiar Web3 gaming leaders — we’re jointly focused on improving UX, enriching gameplay, boosting player enjoyment, and ensuring gamers are able to own and share their experiences across communities and chains.”

“We believe wholeheartedly in the power of bringing a Web2-feeling UX to Web3 to better the gamer experience for everyoneWe are confident that Aptos is the ideal technology for our games, and that our work with Aptos Labs will immediately expand the scope of game fandom in Web3 to encompass players, spectators, rare item traders, and those who build communities within the game,” said Supervillain co-founder and CEO Lucas Ko.

Supervillain formed out of Npixel’s web3 game development outfit. It was working on Metapixel, which would have deployed on Aptos but which was canned by Npixel in later 2023.
