TON sees 320% growth in gaming titles during Q3 2024

As we’re heading into the final quarter of the year, we’ve been crunching data from the Big Blockchain Game List on ecosystem trends during Q3 2024.

More particularly, the data indicates various blockchains’ growth and decline in terms of the number of games deploying on them.

Sky Mavis’ Ronin blockchain is the biggest gainer among gaming-centric chains, up 40%, following the announcements during Q3 of 8 new games joining its network. Among these, RPG life sim Tatsumeeko is migrating from Solana and Immutable while the other seven games are part of Ronin’s developer program Forge.

Looking at the total number of games to-date, Immutable is still in top with 174 titles. Although its self-claimed number is somewhere in the region of 300-370 games, most of these titles can not yet be publicly validated.

Beyond gaming-centered blockchains however, a clear winner stands out. Growing the most in terms of new titles during Q3 is TON, with 385 titles now listed on its platform. An increase of 320%, the blockchain is clearly not only riding on the success of previously launched titles such as Notcoin, Hamster Kombat and Catizen, but has also seen a large influx of new projects, including Flappy Bird and Banana.

Although in-and-of-themselves not games gaining traction for their deep gameplay or complex web3 economies, their simplistic nature and play-to-earn models do have an impact on the larger web3 game adoption.

A growing chorus of game developers are also launching companion apps with TON-integration via Telegram as a way to funnel users to its main games including GOAT Gaming, Gamee, Delabs, Mocaverse and Animoca.

Perhaps more than anything, the growth of TON highlights the importance of distribution platforms such as Telegram and the power of network effects.
