Team Liquid launches MyBlue fan platform on Sui
Top esports outfit Team Liquid has relaunched its fan engagement platform on Mysten Labs’ Sui blockchain.
Originally launched in 2020 as Liquid+, it’s since been renamed to MyBlue, with Blue being the cute mascot version of Team Liquid’s horse logo.
Open to both new and existing users, logging into MyBlue provides the choice of continuing with what Team Liquid calls the basic (non-blockchain) version in which users complete quests to collect XP for rewards, or selecting the MyBlue option in which they get their own soulbound NFT avatar of Blue, which can be customized with digital items as they level up their accounts by complete quests.
Each MyBlue user has a custodial Sui wallet created for them in background via Mysten Labs’ zkLogin tech, but they log in using standard social accounts. There’s no mention of seed phrases or even the ability to get access to your Sui wallet’s public address.
Quests are the usual array of social farming via connecting X, Steam, Discord and Twitch accounts, as well as watching Team Liquid streams, playing games via Steam or providing feedback.
“Thanks to our partnership with Mysten Labs, we’ve taken the best parts of Liquid+ and upgraded it by integrating Sui to make the ultimate fan platform. Fans show up for us, and MyBlue will enable us to keep showing up for them by offering amazing experiences and unique rewards. I can’t wait for all our fans to get their own Blue,” commented Team Liquid co-CEO Steve Arhancet.
Team Liquid will host a celebration event on Thursday 14th November for the launch of MyBlue on twitch.tv/teamliquid, from noon to 4pm PT. Fans will be able to earn prizes by digitally playing the world’s largest crane game and by entering the Ultimate TL Fandom Kit giveaway, including a Team Liquid store shopping spree, an Alienware peripherals package, and a custom Blue plushie and corresponding unique item for their MyBlue.
“Through integrating Sui, Team Liquid fans will have a frictionless journey on MyBlue, acquiring collectibles to showcase their fandom without the need for a deep understanding of the underlying blockchain technology the platform is built on,” added Mysten Labs’ head of gaming partnerships Anthony Palma.
The move is one that continues Sui’s momentum in gaming. It’s recently signed up games such as Xociety, Darktimes and Shodown Samurai R as well as launching pre-orders for its $600 gaming portable SuiPlay0X1.
