Pirate Nation’s launching Season 3 on 14th November
US developer Proof of Play has announced that Season 3 for its fully onchain game Pirate Nation will start on Thursday 14th November.
This play-to-earn event will see players accumulating points for their actions within the game, as well as for staking the Ethereum-based PIRATE token. High multipliers will be awarded to those players who roll over their PIRATE token rewards from previous seasons.
In terms of gameplay, the crafting system has been expanded, while the pirate and ship level caps have been raised to 35 and 5 respectively. Guilds are also expected to be added into the game in the future.
Something else to note is that Season 3 will not directly award points for those holding the Founder Pirates NFTs. Instead, there will be a separate Collector leaderboard with its own set of rewards for NFT holders, while there will be a Social leaderboard based around likes, retweets, and referrals.
Proof of Play hasn’t provided any specific figures for the game’s audience, but it’s said the playerbase doubled between Seasons 1 and 2. More specifically, however, there have been more than 350 million transactions on its Apex and Boss L3 blockchains, which make them two of the highest volume rollup blockchains, beaten only by Coinbase’s Base blockchain.
“With the launch of Season 3, we’re moving closer to realizing our vision for Proof of Play as an advanced onchain infrastructure that supports millions of gamers,” said Proof of Play’s CEO Amitt Mahajan.
“The Proof of Play engine, which powers Pirate Nation, isn’t just another gaming chain — it’s a cutting-edge onchain game engine designed to enable developers to build games onchain faster than offchain. We’re developing a powerful, decentralized foundation for the next generation of onchain games, starting with Pirate Nation.”
