Reality+ and BBC Studios’ Top Gear launch The Stigverse in The Sandbox

BBC Studios has teamed up with web3 game developer Reality+ to launch a new experience within web3 game platform The Sandbox.

Called The Stigverse, it features highlights from BBC’s popular show Top Gear, as well as custom builds.

In terms of the expereince itself, players get to join the virtual Top Gear world in an aim to save The Stigverse from The Digital Stig’s malfunctioning clones, which are called The Gits. These clones take multiple forms, such as Unfortunate Git, Flamin’ Git, and the main antagonist, Science Git.

Players’ main mission is to take charge and round up the escaped Gits across seven zones, all inspired by Top Gear’s engineering challenges, including The Stage, All-Terrain, Mountain, Lake, Aerial, The Scrapyard, and The Clone Lab.

Each zone comes with their own challenges and quests, such as reconstructing the world’s fastest tractor, racing down a snowy slalom, and a gauntlet run in the scrapyard.

Reality+ CEO Tony Pearce commented, “We are incredibly excited to bring The Stigverse to Top Gear fans and The Sandbox players worldwide. This experience is a love letter to the world of Top Gear, offering a unique blend of engaging gameplay, captivating challenges, and unforgettable moments that will delight both longtime fans and newcomers alike.”

BBC Studios SVP Global Licensing added Stephen Davies added, “We’re thrilled to bring Top Gear into The Sandbox, as it offers us a fantastic opportunity to reimagine the world of Top Gear for a new digital audience, and we can’t wait to see players dive into the chaos and challenges of The Stigverse.”
