Line Messenger’s web3 mini-dapps to go live in January 2025
Looking to mirror the current momentum of web3 games scaling via Telegram, web3 developers Kaia and Line’s web3 subsidiary Line Next are drawing closer to the launch of its mini-game platform.
Similar to WeChat and Telegram, its games will be accessible directly from within Line’s messaging platform, which will also offer users wallet creation, asset ownership and transaction services, without the technical complexities of web3. The games’ underlying technology will be powered by Kaia blockchain, which is a merger of the Klaytn and Finschia networks.
Launching at the end of January 2025, the mini-dapp platform aims to seamlessly bridge web2 users into web3, spearheading the existing 196 million monthly users of Line Messenger, which are mainly spread across Japan, Taiwan, Thailand, and Indonesia.
So far, Kaia claims more than 700 projects from global developers have showed interest in building and launching their applications on Line Messenger. These include some of the games already gaining notable traction on Telegram and TON.
Ahead of the official launch, in early December 2024 Kaia and Line Next are also launching their Dapp Portal SDK.
