Following LOL Land’s launch, YGG announces its “casual degen” publishing push

Gaming guild YGG has announced it’s expanding into web3 game publishing.

YGG Play will be focused on releasing casual games that leverage crypto degen mechanics in terms of risk and rewards – a genre that YGG labels “casual degen”.

The first example is LOL Land, the Monopoly Go-style browser title, which is now live on the Abstract blockchain. It includes a collaboration with Pudgy Penguins and is backed by a prize pool of $10 million-worth of YGG tokens.

Players can collect assets and enter lotteries for free in LOL Land, but the main part of the game is its premium monetization mode, in which the highest value single IAP costs $10,000 for 100,000 game rolls. In addition, buying NFTs to enter gated areas or unlock big reward multiplers cost $100 each.

Degen indeed!

“Over the past four years, we’ve seen and played hundreds of games, and YGG has invested in many of them. Through that experience, we’ve come to know what’s fun, what works and what doesn’t, and that’s led us to develop some very strong opinions on how to best serve the crypto market,” said YGG co-founder Gabby Dizon.

“YGG Play, which is specifically targeting the Casual Degen market, is our expression of all that we’ve learned over the years, starting with our first game, LOL Land.”
