Sleepagotchi is first non-Ronin game to join Pixels’ staking rewards scheme

A month on from the launch of its innovative staking system, Pixels has announced that the next game to support the ecosystem will be Sleepagotchi, which will go live on 8 June.

Alongside Pixels, Pixel Dungeons and Forgotten Runiverse, Sleepagotchi will be the first game that’s not running on the Ronin blockchain to be accepted in the program.

Due to launch on mobile later in 2025, Sleepagotchi is a sleep-to-earn game that plans to reward players for meeting consistent sleep goals with digital collectibles. The first iteration of the game is Sleepagotchi Lite, which is a Telegram, LINE and web-based mini-game using the same characters, but without the overarching sleep goals. It currently has around 100,000 WAUs on Telegram.

In terms of how the system works, games that sign up to Pixels staking receive an amount of PIXEL tokens every month, which they reward to PIXEL holders who stake their PIXEL tokens to that game.

Currently, annual rates range from 37% for Pixels to 79% for Pixel Dungeons, with over 5,000 wallets staking 88 million PIXEL tokens, worth $4 million.

In this way, even games that don’t run on the Ronin blockchain can be part of the staking system because users have to stake PIXEL tokens on the Ronin blockchain to receive their return, which is also provided in Ronin-based PIXEL.

That stated, the web version Sleepagotchi Lite will introduce PIXEL as a payment method for various in-game items, and external to staking, the game will also use PIXEL as a reward mechanism for players.

Pixels has consistently led the way in innovating player incentive models. Their pioneering of the Return-On-Reward-Spend metric set a new industry standard for benchmarking performance. We’re excited to learn from their success and apply those insights to our own ecosystem, particularly in building sustainable sleep-to-earn loops,” commented Sleepagotchi founder Anton Kraminkin.

Pixels‘ founder Luke Barwikowski added: “It’s a major step in expanding staking into new distribution channels and meeting web3 gamers where they already are and on platforms they use every day. It also gives us an opportunity to experiment with a new genre and reach entirely new audiences who may not yet be familiar with Pixels.”
