MapleStory Universe shows strong H1 2026 growth, with $9.9 million in protocol revenue

Nexpace’s H1 2026 report shows that MapleStory Universe collected more in protocol revenue than it distributed through MapleStory N gameplay rewards.

Between 1st January 1 and 30th June, protocol revenue totalled 31 million NXPC tokens (worth $9.9 million during the period), compared with 28 million NXPC in equivalent gameplay rewards. Revenue therefore exceeded rewards by approximately 10%, with a positive balance in both quarters.

It’s worth noting, however, that gameplay rewards are distributed in the in-game NESO currency and expressed in NXPC equivalents at a conversion rate of 100,000 NESO to one NXPC. Consequently, the emissions figure should not be read as a count of direct NXPC payments.

The price of NXPC also remains volatile, down 69% in the past 12 months.

First quarter revenue was 14.4 million NXPC, against 13.2 million NXPC in gameplay rewards, leaving approximately 1.2 million NXPC. Second quarter revenue reached approximately 16.6 million NXPC, while rewards increased to 14.9 million NXPC, leaving approximately 1.7 million NXPC.

Revenue grew 15.4% between quarters, compared with 13.0% growth in rewards. The resulting surplus expanded by approximately 42%.

Game content supplied almost all protocol revenue. Content activities generated 29,373,367 NXPC, representing 94.8% of the total. Marketplace fees contributed the remaining 5.2%. Content revenue alone exceeded gameplay rewards by approximately 1.2 million NXPC. This means the positive balance did not depend on marketplace fees, although those fees increased the final surplus.

Nexpace also reported two completed burns attributable to revenue generated during the first half. The 21st May 21 burn, based on first quarter revenue, removed 2,876,483 NXPC. The 16th July burn, based on second quarter revenue, removed another 3,325,525 NXPC. Together, they permanently removed 6,202,010 NXPC, worth around $2 million.

Marketplace activity reached approximately 32.1 million NXPC in gross transaction value across 2,740,235 transactions during the first half of 2026. Using the same daily market valuation approach, this trading volume was equivalent to worth $10.2 million. The figures imply an average transaction value of approximately 11.71 NXPC, or $3.74 equivalent.

By June 30, cumulative participation in MapleStory Universe stood at 855,506 engaged wallets, including 564,714 paying wallets. Paying wallets therefore represented 66% of the cumulative engaged total.

These are totals accumulated since launch, rather than counts of users active during the first half. A paying wallet is an address that generated at least one positive protocol fee through content or marketplace activity.

In summary, the report documents higher quarterly revenue, a widening surplus over measured gameplay rewards, completed revenue-funded burns, and substantial marketplace activity, something Nexpace will be keen to accelerate as it continue to encourage community building with events such as its ongoing Vibe Season hackathons.
