Animoca Brands to develop blockchain-based MotoGP management game
Also raises $0.7 million in funding
Hong Kong publisher Animoca has continued its license land grab by adding the official MotorGP license to its existing warchest which includes the F1 license and deals with Major League Baseball, the Bundesliga, and FC Bayern Munich.
This deal sees Animoca gain a three year global licensing agreement to develop and operate a manager game based on the motor bike MotoGP competition, including teams such as Ducati, Honda, Aprilia, and Yamaha.
It covers multiple platforms including web, PC, mobile devices and consoles.
The game will also involve a collectibles element, which will be linked to the core gameplay.
Animoca expects to launch the game by March 2020, which is the start of the 2020 MotoGP racing season.
More fuel in the tank
In conjunction with this announcement, Animoca has raised $0.7 million from investors including Moses Tang, (AP Capital’s founder) and Animoca chairman Yat Siu (subject to shareholder approval.)
Siu commented: “We are honoured to work with MotoGP, the undisputed leader among motorcycle racing brands, and we look forward to bringing to blockchain the excitement and thrill of the world’s most popular motorcycle races.”
