As part of its PlayGG gaming event in San Diego, Solana Labs has announced GameShift, a web3 game technology designed to streamline the development and porting of blockchain games.

Due to be available later in 2023, GameShift will provide developers with access to a full stack of new and existing third-party web3 components ranging from custody solutions, marketplaces, inventory management, NFT minting, and credit card on/off-ramps through a single API.

“Developers see the potential of web3 games but they need help navigating the fragmented landscape of web3 tools and solutions,” said Solana Labs’ head of product Tal Tchwella.

“GameShift will make it easy for developers to focus more on building their games instead of wrestling with the complexities of integrating web3.”

More generally, more than 40 games were on show at PlayGG, including Aurory, SkateX, Genopets, Star Atlas, Alpha League Racing and Eternal Dragons.
