Xai hopes MIX partnership will help onboard dozens of PC games

The Xai Foundation and gaming media outlet the MIX (Media Indie Exchange) have signed a partnership, designed to bring more PC games to the Arbitrum-based L3 blockchain Xai.

As a curator of indie games, the MIX will assist Xai by providing its experience and relationships with a portfolio of games to the emerging Xai ecosystem. Launched in December 2023, Xai hopes the collaboration will bring 100 game deployments to its gaming-dedicated chain.

While the focus is on indie titles that have already built steady user bases on PC platforms such as Steam and Epic Games, the initiative is also aimed at games with successful blockchain economies. By offering those game developers its tools for trading, Xai is hopeful to see a boost in web3 gaming, reaching “potentially billions of gamers worldwide”.

“With the success of the Steam Community Market, it’s clear that there is a market for the trading platform provided by Xai.  We are excited to help give indie game developers and alternative to the Steam ecosystem, along with a variety of funding opportunities,” commented the MIX CEO Justin Woodward.

Despite only launching at the end of 2023, a handful of games are already announced to deploy on Xai. Among them are MMORPG Chains of the Eternals, Ex Populus’ TCG Final Form, and Paima Studios’ fully onchain RPG Tarochi. Most notably, former Polygon-based Crypto Unicorns announced its migration to Xai in Janaury 2024.

“Xai was built as an open ecosystem first and foremost. This partnership means a whole new generation of gamers can engage with and enjoy their favorite indie experiences, all on a next-generation platform. We are excited to welcome the next wave of games into web3 via our growing ecosystem and are confident that a partnership like this one will help onboard more and more players into the space,” said Xai core contributor Soby.
