Dark fantasy RPG Evrloot launching on Polkadot L1 Moonbeam
Chainfood Studio has adopted a free-to-play model and launched its browser-based dark fantasy RPG Evrloot on Moonbeam.
Founded by a group of Polkadot fans with a vision of expanding NFT utility, Evrloot has grown to a loyal community of around 400 NFT owners. Launching on Polkadot-based L1 Moonbeam, it aims to provide easy access with no requirement of a web3 wallet or upfront payment. These options become available as players progress, in conjunction with the ability to upgrade free-to-play characters to one of 1299 exclusive NFT 2.0 Characters.
In terms of the game itself, Evrloot is a rogue-like, light-MMO experience set in a dark medieval fantasy world. One of its notable features is the use of NFTs, which are soulbound equipable ERC-6220 tokens, which can be accessed across multiple ecosystems.
With its full launch, features going live include
- Idle missions allowing players to send off their in-game characters on six-hour long fishing expeditions to try and catch rare items.
- Crafting loops enabling merging of resources like fish and herbs to mint health potions.
- Tactical dungeons letting successful players mint their progression onchain.
- A native NFT marketplace letting players trade valuable in-game items.
When starting out, players also join in-game clans that link back to the affiliates that brought them to the game. In addition to promoting connection, being part of a clan also boosts the points players can earn.
Chainfood Studio CEO Tobi “Deckard” Amann commented, “Our goal with Evrloot is to create an immersive and thrilling dark fantasy eb3 world that prioritizes fun and player enjoyment, transforming the world into a canvas for its players. Through their in-game actions, players shape the story and forge the lore of this world. As RPG enthusiasts, creating a canvas like this has always been our dream – and with Evrloot, we’ve found an exciting and ethical opportunity to bring our vision fully on-chain.”
Moonbeam head of ecosystem dev Sicco Naets added, “I am very excited to see Evrloot enter its next growth phase. Chainfood studio has a very special game in Evrloot with a fiercely loyal community – moving to a free-to-play model will give them a lot more exposure and will allow a lot more players discover what makes this game so special.”
