Somnia and Uprising Labs launch $10 million game accelerator

Blockchain games continue to require better performing technology to support their scaling needs and other complexities. Due to the increasing demand, the sector has seen an explosive growth of new L1, L2, L3 and even L4 protocols.
Little known L1 blockchain Somnia from Virtual Society Foundation, which is supported by UK tech company Improbable, is one such chain which launched in 2024.
Looking to solve remaining issues such as throughput, scalability, and efficiency, Somnia integrates multiple omnichain protocols in order to optimize its infrastructure for gaming, social platforms, and the metaverse. Indeed, its DevNet recently exceeded 1 million transactions per second (TPS), while also achieving sub-second confirmation of those transactions. Additionally, it handled over 300,000 NFT mints per second, and broke 50,000 DEX swaps per second.
Of course, this excited the developer, who commented “Our DevNet results show that we’re not just keeping up with expectations – we’re surpassing them. Somnia’s performance proves it can support true, on-chain games and financial ecosystems at global scale.”
Boosted by this confidence, it’s now working towards the release of Somnia testnet and its expansion. As part of this, the network has partnered with web3 game publisher Uprising Labs (former Uprising L2) on a $10 million web3 game dev accelerator. Called Dream Catalyst, it runs for six months and offers web3 game studios tools, mentorship, and resources.

Not just for established developers, the accelerator also welcomes teams who are looking to build their very first web3 game. To that end, Dream Catalyst has a web3 game club aimed at first-time builders and users, which offers rewards for completed tasks, access to future airdrops and NFT whitelists, as well as early access to upcoming playtests.
Applications for Dream Catalyst are open. Users can learn more and apply via its official website.
