Metacade launching L3 Base Appchain for skill-based tournament platform

Web3 game developer Metacade has partnered with Coinbase’s Ethereum L2 Base to release a gaming customized Base Appchain.
Base Appchains are L3 chains with dedicated blockspace for apps looking to scale on Base. To that end, it provides faster block times, lower fees, and multiple customization options.
In addition to Metacade, gaming ecosystems such as Blocklords and Super Champs are also building their own Base Appchains. Proof 8 (ex-Proofworks), onchain film fund and art project Decentralized Pictures, and web3 privacy protocol Horizen are some non-gaming projects rolling out Base Appchains.
In the case of Metacade, it hopes the collaboration will add more token utility due to every transaction on the Appchain being powered by its MCADE token. As Metacade integrates more partner games, these will also be underpinned by MCADE.
“This innovation unlocks limitless potential – empowering game studios, enhancing $MCADE utility, and driving onchain adoption at scale. Together, we’re making gaming a key force in Base’s mission to bring millions onchain,” commented Metacade CEO Russell Bennett.
In order to scale and onboard “thousands of gaming projects”, Metacade is preparing for the launch of its skill-based Tournament v2 platform, which will enable developers to integrate any Base token without requiring coding into their games, allowing them to host tournaments with their own native prize pools.

The soon-to-launch Tournament v2 platform has 25 playable hypercasual games, while Metacade is also working on its Gangs of Metacadia title.
