The Sandbox and TIME bring ‘TIME Square’ to the metaverse
TIME Square has come to the metaverse! (sort of). More specifically, The Sandbox and TIMEPieces, the latter being an NFT community initiative from TIME, announced a new partnership in order to develop TIME’s first foray into the metaverse – dubbed ‘TIME Square’.
Built atop its own digital plot, TIME Square promises to be a hub for convening, art, commerce and more, depending on what its visitors would like to do. Much akin to its namesake, TIMEPieces clearly takes inspiration from the iconic tourist attraction of New York City.
This partnership was announced during The Sandbox event at NFT.NYC by TIME’s President – Keith A. Grossman, who had the following to say:
“Our goal is to create a destination that will be the heart of the metaverse… Since launching TIMEPieces in September 2021, we have focused on developing a community in Web3 that benefited from the incredible 100-year legacy and access TIME has established. We are thrilled to now tap into that community as we seek to find the architect to design TIME Square in the metaverse, as we create an immersive experience with The Sandbox that provides a natural bridge between the virtual community of TIMEPieces, the historical coverage and global relationships of TIME, the unique IP coming from TIME Studios, TIME for Kids, and our real-life events.”
TIME is one of the latest in an extensive line of big-hitter businesses; ranging from musicians (Snoop Dogg), to even corporate multinationals.
