During its Creators Day in Hong Kong, The Sandbox has broken the news that its web3 metaverse is now open to self-publishing of user-generated content.

A milestone the company has been working towards since its inception, the move means that any LAND-owner can now create and instantly publish their experiences on the map in The Sandbox. The previously required application process has been removed, leading to an easier publishing procedure.

Talking to BlockchainGamer.biz earlier in 2023, The Sandbox COO and co-founder Sebastien Borget said “We’ve always featured a lot of content from independent creators and studios, and this is going to ramp up even more.”

“Self-publishing will start shaping a very different public perception of what The Sandbox can do. It will become more and more UGC driven as time progresses, and the number of open experiences will greatly increase, making the platform more diverse and more packed with content to engage with,” he added.

Moreover, the company announced that creators looking to enrich the metaverse with their content will be offered a new updated version of its free no-code tools. Game Maker 0.9 will provide more templates, new mechanics, social interaction features, and more.

CEO and co-founder of The Sandbox. Arthur Madrid commented, “Web3 puts creators first by enabling a new kind of control, provenance, incentive, and royalty structure. Whether you make music, games, art, fashion, architecture, or any other content, The Sandbox is an easy to learn creative platform that allows creators to take advantage of a new system of control, ownership, and revenue for their content.”

As a further incentive to its creators, The Sandbox has also reinvested 100 million SAND tokens into its Game Maker Fund. As part of the investment an intention is to incorporate the DAO in The Sandbox’ rewards structure, aiming to encourage more engaging content.
