Mocaverse expands with South Korean collabs
Animoca Brands’ umbrella NFT collection Mocaverse has signed numerous deals to strategically enhance its presence in South Korea.
More particularly, Mocaverse is looking to deepen its integrations within South Korea’s web3 culture in areas such as music, gaming, and digital IP. To this end, it’s formed new partnerships with music producer and talent agency Cube Entertainment, former LINE Friends IP platform now called IPX, blockchain game devs Planetarium and Gomble, and LOTTE Group’s NFT division Bellygom.
By minting a Moca ID, which is Mocaverse’s on-chain identity initiative, users will be granted access to a selection of web3 games and experiences spanning from social IP activations to cross-program points swap missions from Mocaverse’s new partner companies. Moca NFT and ID holders will also be able to earn exclusive rewards and Realm Points while engaging in the projects.
Among the forthcoming integrations announced so far is a (G)I-DLE x Mocaverse mashup video based on K-pop girl group (G)I-DLE’s song Queencard, as well as a phygital integration with LINE Friends’ IP.
While Cube Entertainment is one of South Korea’s leading music talent agencies, Planetarium is the developer of popular web3 franchise Nine Chronicles. In 2022, the studio raised $32 million in funding, which was led by Animoca Brands.
“Planetarium Labs is dedicated to crafting immersive experiences, and our collaboration with Mocaverse represents a significant step towards enriching the global web3 community. Together, we look forward to creating innovative gaming content and fostering deeper connections with users around the world,” said Planetarium co-founder and CEO JC Kim, who we recently spoke to as part of the Blockchain Gaming World podcast.
IPX recently announced a new business strategy with the intention to expand its IP businesses globally by adopting its IPs to suit all ages, and bolster its digital business. The company has deals with global entities including Netflix, Supercell and Nexon.
Commenting on the partnership, IPX head of digital business Logan said, “IPX has put a lot of emphasis on symbiotic growth of community and brand, and the Mocaverse team has been extremely cognizant of this and has achieved remarkable project and community growth. We are excited to partner up to expand this growth.”
In terms of Gomble, it’s the blockchain division spinning out of game company 111%, with a team consisting of gaming veterans and founding members of 111%. The studio has raised funding from Animoca, Planetarium, Binance Labs, Com2uS, and more.
“Mocaverse is the hub of culture and entertainment in web3, and we’re excited to bring our expertise across industries as South Korea becomes one of our core markets to watch in 2024. We see powerful opportunities for cross-project co-creation and celebrity-fan interaction,” concluded Animoca Brands chief business officer Alan Lau.
