Shrapnel’s NFT marketplace goes live with 10 weapon skins

Avalanche-based PC extraction shooter Shrapnel has announced the launch of its marketplace, alongside three days of STX2, its second early access play test.

The marketplace will go live with 10 cosmetically-enhanced weapons, which don’t offer any gameplay advantage. Priced from 10 SHRAP tokens (around $3) to 50 SHRAP (around $13), players will be able to use these weapons in STX2. At this stage, other players will not be able to loot them, but this feature will be enabled in future.

STX2 will also see the introduction of a new weapon type. The submachine gun offers quiet fire and high maneuverability, and can be used with the newly-introduced suppressor muzzle attachment, which is also compatible with the existing set of weapon types: assault rifle, pistol and shotgun.

Future features in terms of Shrapnel NFT skins will include user-generated content as well as collabs from communities including NeoTokyo, Superverse, BoDoggos, Alchemy and Avalanche which will be airdropped to the appropriate NFT holders.

“The debut of our marketplace and premium cosmetics marks a pivotal milestone in our journey towards a unique Shrapnel economy that rewards creators and players in new ways,” commented CEO Mark Long.

“The feedback on our early versions of Shrapnel from Epic Games Store players has been overwhelmingly positive, and we’re excited for our community to get their hands on the exciting new features of gameplay we’re launching at GDC this week.”
