Tencent announces collaboration with blockchain esports platform SLIVER.tv

Tencent is moving into the esports streaming world at speed.

It’s not every day that you see proverbial giants in the playground that is blockchain. It’s with that visual in mind that we find that Tencent Games has formed a partnership with the esports platform, SLIVER.tv.

SLIVER.tv operates as a 24/7 live esports channel, consisting of a number of popular live-streamers. For Tencent, according to a company announcement, this allows it to bring Theta rewards to its latest game, Ring of Elysium.

This support of the Theta token is two-fold for players, allowing them to obtain exclusive in-game items from SLIVER for the game. But also, for those that choose to stream via SLIVER can earn the tokens by streaming or watching its content.

Mitch Liu, the co-founder, and CEO of SLIVER.tv and Theta welcomed the partnership between the two companies.

“Our partnership with Tencent Games will help us continue to drive interactive esports by featuring exciting content from Ring of Elysium,” Liu continues.

“Combined with our unique Theta rewards and blockchain technology, users become part of the esports experience, driving greater engagement and retention for our partners and games.”

This news comes two months after Theta Labs secured partnerships with both MBN and CJ Hello.
