2018 in Review: Bitcoin Louie, Lucid Sight

Blockchain games going native

As a turbulent year in the blockchain game sector draws to an end, we’re getting the opinions of some of the key players about what just happened.

And as well as finding out what they thought were the most significant events in 2018, we’re looking forward to what will occur in 2019.

Blockchain game company Lucid Sight released MLB Crypto Baseball in 2018, and will release Crypto Space Commander (CSC), Cryptic Conjure and MLB Crypto Baseball 2019 next year.

Luis Marquez – aka Bitcoin Louie – is its lead community manager.

BlockchainGamer.biz: What was the most important blockchain game sector trend for your company in 2018?

BitcoinLouie: For Lucid Sight as a game company, our focus has been the creation and development digital assets in the form of Non Fungible Tokens (NFTs) that are not only viewed by players as collectables but also offer unique functionality based on their attributes with our games.

What do you think was the most important news/trend generally?

To me, what stood out as most important was the trend of players not familiar with crypto playing blockchain games not for crypto directly, but because they valued and enjoyed playing games where they could participate in the economy (CSC), or were fans of the game IP (MLB)

What blockchain game did you play the most in 2018?

Although as Lucid Sight’s Community Manager I might be biased, the blockchain game I played the most was MLB Crypto Baseball. The amount of live MLB games to watch alongside figures purchased on game cards that followed the action was non stop during the MLB season.

What do you think will be the biggest trend in 2019?

The biggest blockchain gaming trend in 2019, in my opinion, will be around more polished games with fun gameplay that properly integrate player economies and drive home the idea of what it means to have true digital ownership. For blockchain, in general, the biggest trend in 2019 will be the integration of blockchain in non-web native apps.

What’s your resolution for 2019?

My resolution for 2019? As Community Manager, to learn more about how the technology behind smart contracts works to better understand the games using it and read data more efficiently.
