Referral-based gaming marketplace Refereum closed its RFR token sale on 8 February 2018.
Over 150,000 people registered for its whitelist, with its purchase request total exceeding 1 million ETH (around $800 million).
However, with around 2 billion RFR tokens sold (40% of the total ever) the sale actually raised around $30 million for further development of the platform.
RFR is currently tradable on the OKEX exchange.
In terms of its utility, the ERC-20-compliant RFR token is used on the Refereum gaming platform in a number of ways.
- Individuals can earn small amounts by performing actions such as buying and downloading games, and watching videos and streams.
- Streamers can generate revenue by working with advertisers.
- Advertisers – such as developers and publishers – can use it to promote their games, either by paying streamers to pay their games directly or indirectly through affiliate links.
At time of writing, Refereum claims over over 450,000 users on its platform, and more than 10,000 streamers who have created more than 14 million hours of watched streams, driving 125,000 game downloads.
