Sirin Labs unveils specifications for world-first blockchain smartphone

First crypto-capable handheld will set you back a hefty $999

Sirin Labs has released the specifications for Finney, the world’s first blockchain-capable smartphone.

This Swiss firm is targeting notoriously-weak mobile security with the device, which will come with built-in cold storage wallet and an ultra-secure fingerprint sensor.

Finney also promises seamless and automatic token conversions without the hassle of obtaining different tokens through an exchange. It’s hoped this will streamline the process for those new to blockchain technology.

The official homepage reads, “The current generation of smart devices compromises on user security. The focus is overwhelmingly on user experience, at a huge cost in fraud and cybercrime. We believe the digital economy of the future cannot tolerate this trade-off”.

While Sirin Labs aim to bridge the gap between the mass market and the blockchain economy, a $999 MSRP for the Finney could prove too steep for all but the most dedicated blockchain fan.
