MLB Crypto Baseball drops the ‘Crypto’, becoming MLB Champions
Focused on “Digital Collectibles” and “True Digital Ownership”

Lucid Sight’s game goes mainstream
It might seem like a small change, but the fact MLB Crypto Baseball has become MLB Champions is significant.
Lucid Sight’s official Major League Baseball collectible blockchain game launched at the end of the MLB 2018 season and found an enthusiastic audience.
Over $650,000 worth of blockchain-backed players were sold, which the developer now estimates to have a market cap of $3.5 million.
Despite this, the game has been overhauled for the 2019 MLB season, which has just started.
Most importantly, onboarding has been streamlined so players no longer have to onboard through Metamask; something that proved to be a big obstacle for many fans not familiar with the process.

And that’s the context for the renaming. As a term ‘Crypto’ is reminiscent of 2017 boom and bust, ICO scams and other dodgy dealings.
Conversely, the description for MLB Champions replaces such terms with more universal descriptions such as “Digital Collectibles” and “True Digital Ownership”.
